Hello, Allow me to introduce myself, I am Megan - Signed Artist Name "Leah". 

I am a Wife and Mother of  2 children.

My artist journey began at the age of 14 taking lessons through my local public school. I was approached to do a special painting for a Local News Paper  to produce a painting for the front page for the Holiday Addition. That same painting was requested for copy rights to be printed on cards to be sold, to help with funding of a local charity. This would be the moment I realized my skills would allow me to connect and help others in a unique way.

I was born and raised in rural Northern Alberta on various farms. Rural farm life allowed the room to explore, study, encounter, and appreciate the landscape, animals and plant life.

When out exploring in the summer months, I like to watch the wind ripple the grasses and grain fields like the surface of water. Running a hand over satin or silk reminds me of the wind playing in the fields mimicking the water.

Creating art allows me to thrive and inspire my self and others. Landscapes are often my choice of  subject and occasionally focus in on an a specific specimen or element found on my explorations in nature. Often those who have viewed my paintings in person have expressed a sense of calm and relaxation. That is what I feel on my excursions into outdoor adventures and I strive to achieve that with in the art works that I produce. 

My methods of sculpting and painting are hands on.  Inspiration comes from a mix of imagination and experiences upon my travels. Texture of fabric, coffee filter and paper  can inspire the foundation of sculpting trees or rocks on canvas  to anchor and enhance depth that entices the viewer to want to step on in to explore more.

*not every art work is sculpted with additional mediums, although sculpture and paint are my preferred methods.  My exploration of other mediums continues to grow and may be seen in harmony with my current works of Art.
